At The Oaks Community Church we believe that the whole gospel is the good news that
life with God is made available to us through the cross of Christ as a gift of God’s grace.
Everything we believe, everything we are, and everything we do flows from
who Jesus is and what Jesus has done.
The Good News of God's Cross
The gospel of God’s cross announces that all of the requirements of God’s divine law have been fulfilled through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. By satisfying all of God’s demands through his cross, Jesus has opened the way back into the kingdom of God.
(Isaiah 53:4, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
The Good News of God's Grace
God’s grace is his outrageous acceptance of us not because we have earned it or deserved it but because he gives it freely at Christ’s expense. The gospel of God’s grace announces that God gives us a place in his family purely as a gift birthed from his love for us. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation and entrance into God’s kingdom. Instead, he invites us to receive what Christ has done.
(Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 2:21)
The Good News of God's Kingdom
The Kingdom of God is life with God under the rule of God. The gospel of God’s kingdom is the announcement that life as it was meant to be lived is once again available. We can be restored to relationship with God as members of his family. As kingdom citizens, we see that all of God’s commands and instructions are for our joy and they are leading us toward life.
(Daniel 4:3, Mark 1:15)
Our Essential Beliefs About-
God wrote the Bible through men without error.
2 Peter 1:21
God exists eternally in a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became a man, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, was buried, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven to redeem sinful people.
The Holy Spirit is the supernatural agent who applies salvation to sinful people, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying, and sealing them until the day of Christ’s return.
God creates all people in His image as uniquely male and female.
All people are sinful and in need of salvation. Salvation is the gift of God brought to sinful people by grace alone and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The church is both universal and local.
Jesus will return to earth to set everything right, judge all people and to rule and reign with his people forever.
What if I don't believe or understand all this yet?
That’s why we're here- to help one another follow Jesus. We exist to help people learn, grow, understand, and apply the gospel. And even if you believe the gospel, there’s still plenty more to learn and plenty more to apply to our lives.
We don’t put forth these belief-statements as a way of saying, “You have to understand and agree with all of this to be part of us.” Rather, we want to be upfront about where we’re coming from. These are the kinds of things you’ll hear taught and discussed when we're together.
